manxbiker, you are quite right, you are entitled to your opinion. So are we. So here's mine....

Those of us who love the spirit of Christmas have the right not to be ridiculed or belittled for it, nor have it spoiled for us.

I take it you are not a hypocrite and don't accept cards and presents yourself then?

May I ask you why, if you hate Christmas so much, did you find it necessary to stress yourself so by visiting the Christmas topic in the first place? And exactly what kind of reaction were you expecting to get from your question? I use the word question in the loosest sense seeing as it seems more of a statement dressed as a question.

I also have a statement to make, with the same spiky and forthright attitude with which you seem to communicate yourself....Kindly take your bah humbug and shove it up your chimney!

To everyone else....

Aprilis wishes you a happy and magical Christmas!
I don't agree with you Manx - but I wish you the Merry Christmas of your choosing - as we will celebrate ours the way we choose.
Merry Christmas again - from and old Southern USA lady.
are you the grinch that stole christmas?
I do not understand why you would post that comment in 'Christmas' - to offend the xmas lovers out there. And then get all huffing and puffy with people who "rightly' disagree with your opinion.

Yes.....each one to there own, but to advertise your opinion to the 'otherside' on AB which is all about responding to posts. What do you expect mate you asked for a fight and got one quite frankly.

I am an xmas lover and fair enough your not but try not to inflict it on others, especially family and friends who might like xmas, as you have you right they have theirs!

Hi, you say you have a son and 4 grand children! Obviously it is your rampant hatred for this time of year that has led them on a path of not enjoying Christmas. Does that make you feel good? I used to love Christmas, but it's become harder since becoming a single parent.... I would, however never inflict my 'small sorrows' on to my children or take away the weeks of anticipation and happiness that this time of year brings to them. I think I'll agree with Ratter on this one.... something happened to make you like this! I would never be so bold as to suggest that you were mis-treated by your parents..... maybe it was the trainset/doll that you never recieved the year you were on Santa's 'bad list'.

Hope you manage to find some joy for you and your family at this very special time of year.

Manx, what a shame that all the children in your family have had to endure being singled out as the children who don't get Christmas presents and who have to go without at Christmas.

What a shame you had to inflict that on your own children and now they are doing it to their children!!!

You must be so proud!!!

Most parents would not be able to do that to their children, even when single Mothers have not a penny in their pocket, would not deny their Children a happy Christmas. You do it from choice!!!

Manx, you have no idea what being a parent is all about, that is such a shame!!
I cant actually believe that no one has actually said the true meaning behind xmas, he said why do we celebrate it, every month has a 25th in. But Jesus wasnt born every month this is why, even though he wasnt born on the 25th, but there you go, unfortuanetly yes over the years it has become a waste of money, but I love xmas and giving presents and watching kids faces light up. But most of all its about family and spending it with them, its not all about money, and I couldnt care less if I didnt get a thing. Start to enjoy it :-)
Well said 4getmenot - the true meaning of Christmas does get forgoten all the time.
Well said 4get, I am an atheist, so I don't celebrate the birth of Jesus.
I celebrate the exchange of gifts and good wishes, the coming together of families and friends the look of delight on children's faces, the mystery of Santa Claus.

The whole atmosphere of Christmas, I wouldn't miss it for the world!!!

Yes the cost of Christmas can be astronomical, but it is worth every penny spent to see the look on the children's faces!!!!
Well we are supposed to be celebrating the birth of Jesus 25th Dec. and the lst January is the start of a new year and many of us who have had a crap year hope this new one will bring us something to look forward to.
Have to say. My husband never liked Christmas. The children had always opened their presents before he got up (far too early for him). Over the years I too have come to not be too bothered about Christmas. although I love it at work as I work with children. I always see the grandchildren on Christmas morning and then we go out to lunch and leave them to enjoy their Christmas. Now all of a sudden he has decided Christmas is a time for families and we should all celebrate it together. Surprise Suprise. No one is interested . We all do our own thing. HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you and yours.
I am an atheist too, but it really has shocked me how 30 answers were given and not one mention of it, so maybe manx is right all this money being spent is actually clouding the true meaning of xmas. But I do not beleive it to be a waste of time, as I said family is most important to me at xmas.
Personally, I think manxbiker is trying to wind us up. He sounds too infantile to be true!
But why would it wind people up, there are people like this, its his own choice, lots of things can irritate me about xmas, maybe hes/shes finally had enough. :-) It wound me up more that more people went against him saying about the gifts etc, when people seem to have forgotten the true meaning.
But they don't all post their feelings on a section of a website specifically for all things festive.
it did make me laugh how some people put but we are expressing our opionions, but manx is also and got ripped into straight away, we may find that miserable but I'm sure just wishing him a happy xmas wouldnt fuel to his fire so much :-)
As I said, I think manx is just trying to wind us all up. Their answers give them away.
