I have a feeling it's going to be one of those threads, but i'm going christmas shopping soon.
What should I buy my dad for christmas?
It needs to be something that's between 5 and £10 but it can't be any of the following which rules out nearly anything possible;
~chocolate (he's too fussy and even if he doesn't like them he just shoves some in his mouth then screws his face up and leaves the rest)
~a mug (he has to have china cups, which I've never found with any of those slogans on)
~clothes (including slippers and accesories such as jewelry) (he's so fussy, and he just got a new pair of slippers and he's allergic to lots of metals and wouldn't wear jewelry anyway)
~alcohol (he has tonnes in the cupboard and even if I got someone to buy it for me, my budget doesn't extend to buy the kinds of things he likes)
~CDs or DVDs (he never watches or listens to them.)
What about a Real Gift from a charity website - you know, a goat or seeds etc(www.sciaf.org.uk) and he is actually helping someone else at the same time - and its not a 'material' thing that he can then turn his nose up at!
Have same problem with my in laws. This year I have gone to our local jam factory shop and got £25 worth of goodies, they look very expensive and making hamper for them. Looks great and at least they will use it all, they might even give us some of the cookies when we visit.
Oh Molly, I have made a rule for Christmas gifts for adults, If you cannot eat it, or drink it. then I won't give it!...............Buy him some more booze to stash in his cupboard!.......or a box of sweets that he may never eat!.. someone in the house will enjoy them anyway!.....lol................
