Anyone out there hate New years Eve too?
Dont you find it sickly when everyone links arms and sings 'Auld Lang Syne' (what ever that means) and 'You'll never walk alone' (scousers think it's their song) at the end of the night? Makes me want to vomit. Then afterwards have to wait hours for an over priced taxi to be able to get home.

I agree with you dave. I enjoy New year's Eve, so long as I'm at home with family and a quiet drink. I've always been baffled by the idea of celebrating the start of a New Year, particularly in cold, cramped surroundings or in a pub which has conned you into buying a ticket for the privilege weeks earlier.
There's abs no reason to dislike NYE. If you don't like how folk behave on the last night of the year stop in, do your own thing. I for one, never go 'out' on NYE, I always go for a nice meal with my OH and either a few drinks back at home or the home of a friend - nothing wild ever (well not in the last 15yrs!) - it's like Xmas, if you don't like all the faff about it - do your own thing - the hols are there for all to enjoy in the manner they would most enjoy - either by living it up or down. Stop being miserable and at least look forward to the time off if you are lucky enough to get it. PS Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
What irks me about "Auld Lang Syne" (the meaning of which is perfectly clear, by the way) is when people put "the sake of" into the last line! Where on earth did that come from?
