sorry but I have refrained from wanting to have my say....but heres my penny's worth,
In the society that we are living in today, ware terrorism is at it highest levels ever, young kids being brainwashed to thinking that blowing themselves and killing people is good,
I would say this is the perfect time to stop fireworks being sold to Mr Joe Public, I enjoyed an organized display last night, I am not a hum bug, I actually like watching them and so does my dog.......................but imo to be celebrating ourselves what Nov 5th is about is frightening, should we start celebrating all the other terrorist attacks that have happened.............

My five year old girls came home from school today with the news that one of their classmates had an accident with a firework last night. From what we can gather they were following all the rules for safety, the wee boy was standing well back, the dad lit it and moved quickly away but the wind caught the firework and it bounced off the side of the boys eye. Thankfully it's a very minor injury but a terrible fright for him and his parent's and i shudder to think what would have happened if the rocket had exploded at that point. Things can still go wrong for even the most responsible people.
As for the irresponsible? Well, on Saturday night i watched a drunk teenager holding a lit firework shooting out sparks in front of him pretending it was his - you know. Now that would have been a painful injury!

It's not really much of a point though is it really?
After all I can go and buy a pin and use it myself.
It's a bit like if Tesco stopped selling fireworks in case somebody sued and we went and bought them elsewhere.
My earlier point about deaths was that it's rather silly to pretend that we need to protect the public from hurting themselves with fireworks whilst doing nothing about the thousands of alcohol related deaths a year.
But that's because the public safety argument is a sham and the real reason most people want to ban them is because it upsets their pets

i have a 6mnth old puppy and he sat and watched our fireworks in the back garen on sunday and didnt linch (from the back door he wasnt outside) so i arnt wantng to ban fireworks because the upset pets...i just think there shud be stricter restrictions on who can buy them...i live in a nice area but my mother in law lives a 10 minute drive from here in a not so nice area and she has been too feared to leave her house after dark this week because kids have been firing them in the streets at people and the police did nothing...she was scarred to the point that she arranges her work shifts so she wudnt be out after dark...
