I notice a lot of celebrities prefer platinum engagement/wedding rings. I'm shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and don't want to just follow a trend, but I'm thinking there has to be some real benefits to going for platinum. Anyone know?
Platinum was very popular before the war (or so my nanny is telling me) but due to the war they stopped making them as they used it in armaents.
Lots of Elvis fans have platinum rings as Elvis bought one for his wife.
mr g my nanny says go for it - because it has a better resistance to wear - if it scratches the platinum just moves whereas with gold it is actually lost and it is also hypoallergenic. Beware as there are different qualities - the highest being 950 - which means it's 95% platinum .
She's just said that the brilliant white shows off a diamond better than anything else.
Yes thicko I CAN,if i wear silver ILL KNOW ITS SILVER,if i wear white gold,ILL KNOW ITS WHITE GOLD! My jewellry is platinum and i feel on top of the world wearing it,as well as designer clothes and limited edition trainers and timberland boots,it seems that you chicks are happy with fake jewellry, fake perfumes and fake labels,so long as "NO ONE KNOWS!' HAHA! Fake @$$ beaches,go and run to the social security office cath and collect your welfare check!
Dont listen to cath,if her husband gave her an organic bamboo engagement ring and started lying about its the meaning that counts,he'd be on a sex ban,be cheated or have to suffer a lifetime of being called mr cheap to everyone she knows, listen mr g,from one player to another, buy the best you can afford, make sure its platinum and diamond and be seen as a real man and reap the benefits if you know what i mean!
Platinum is a more pure and precious metal than, for example White Gold. It is harder and therefore will last longer. Also if you are buying a ring with a stone, i.e. a diamond ring, the stone will be held more safely in a ring made from platinum as the claws that hold the stone will be stronger and therefore less likely to break. White gold is yellow gold mixed with other metals and is naturally a bronze grey colour. It is coated with Rhodium plating to make it appear whiter and after wearing, over time, the plating comes off gradually and the natural grey/bronze colour shows through. Platinum is the best bet for these reasons, though more expensive, is well worth the extra cost.
