I'm getting too close to 40 for comfort :( but I still wear jeans, tee-shirts and white trainers. I agree the "shop fresh" look isn't good though, prefer mine to look well worn (and they're much more comfortable that way)

I've got no intention to stop wearing them in the next year or so, so it looks like I will be wearing them when over 40.

I would not suggest any colour socks with black trainers, joeluke - I just don't like black trainers of any kind and teamed with black socks, yuk....

Basically, black shoes/trainers don't stand out and hit you in the eye. Bright white shoes are just awful, and bright white trainers with pale grey trackie bottoms and a hoody are the worse things ever!!
