Correct Bra Size

Can anyone tell me correct bra sizing?
I usually buy 40c but on doing measurements as dictated by a bra sizing chart,I should be 40d.So I bought a couple(the same) at the latter size and fit wonderfully.Bought another,a Triumph,at £30,so should not be scrimped on size...it was far too small across the back.
It is amazing how makes vary...shouldn`t ,a size is a size...

So can any kind person explain about the back sizing ,how it works..if a cup is larger,is the back smaller etc...am so confused on this.

I cannot get out much and so buy online and it would help to know so as not to have to make returns.

if you google measure bra size there are umpteen websites that go through the whole thing for you

failing that if you are still unsure get them measured when you are in a shop that does it. I want to go to Rigby and Peller for this before I die!

I'm afraid the only proper way to find out your bra size is to get it measured professionally.

For years, I wore the incorrect sizes without knowing, to my mind they fit, so they were right...I was wrong. After being measured properly (at La Senza) I now buy proper fitting ones, and the difference is amazing.

Like you've lready spotted - sizing varies between brands. Bodies are not identically proportioned, so large cup / smaller back is not 'normal', although many manufacturers produce their goods on that basis. I once had a professional fitting - which was great for getting correct cup size, but the body diameter that the lady squoze me into was pure torture. She wanted me in a 34, and I have decided 38 is what doesn't leave me with welts.
So you've just got to keep trying them on befor ebuying. A pain, I know.

Size changes with time anyway. Leave the charts alone, make the effort to get out and go treat yourself to a good bra at a reputable place where they do fitting.

I suppose failing that you could always try those L/M/S fitting on the ones they show on the shopping channel.

It is best to get measured. I was wearing a 34DD...went to get measured and went to a 36F. Like BOO says...the difference is amazing.

Good place to buy from is Bravissimo, where a good range of styles and sizes is available and there is no problem changing them if the size is wrong, but you do have to know your size first. However, I totally agree with what you say about the different makes, Fantasie is good for me, but Panache is totally wrong and much smaller . If the back size goes up, then the cup size should theoretically go down and vice versa. Also recommended is to be measured in a couple of shops, therefore the correct size will be definite.

Get to know the variations with different stores/sites

Im 44E in M and S
42 E in Triumph
44F in Bravissimo
42 DD in Asda

I like ASDA by the way...best price....nice designs and so far really comfy

Thanks ladies for your answers....I always buy expensive underwear.much t0 my friends disgust but I find they last much longer than theirs do...quality will out!
I have shopped with all those mentioned except Asda.(will have a go at them)I too,found Panache a very small fit.

It really is a pain when a size is not a size.

These websites tell one how to measure etc.but what is the point if all these makes vary!!!!!!!!

They didn`t have this problem before the invention of the bra..and probably much more comfy too
