Casual shirt - colourful shirt, open collar and no tie
Smart shirt - plain colour, open collar and no tie
Formal shirt - plain colour, top button and tie
Dress shirt - white and for bow tie
Formal shirts are sold with precise collar sizes (e.g 15½, 16 or 16½) because the collar will be buttoned up to accommodate a tie.

Smart shirts are sold simply as S, M L, XL, etc, as they're designed to be worn with the collar unbuttoned.
