your significant other?

Himself has everything he wants (except the cottage on Islay!)

He really dislikes it if I buy him clothes as gifts - although I admit to doing it at times to wind him up.

I was very lucky to get another bottle of his favourite whisky that they stopped producing in 2010.  I managed to get a bottle for his 50th but he put it in his 'pension' fund! Its not worth a great deal but more than we paid for it.

Anyway what have you bought the significant other in your life.

Chanel No5 and Coco chanel. Big bottles so it stands a chance of lasting until Feb.

The problem we have if if we want something we just buy it anyway throughout the year, but she does get through the perfume so it will be used.

Nothing.  We are not doing presents.  I have bought my own present but he cannot decide what he wants (if anything).

I have no idea what to get Husband.

He, however, has bought me the vinyl edition 1977 of Bat Out of Hell. He doesn't know it yet, though 🤭

Maybe get some very nice socks?

yes I agree - we are pretty much the same - except I know he would not have searched for this whisky so bonus!

Its the same with birthdays - they get harder as each year passes.

Clover - I sold my version of that at auction when we moved lol

BM - a nice cushion for his knee after his op?

We should be more than enough.😎

Redhelen, what was selling price of BOOH? If it's not too rude to ask

I think the fact that I shall be catering to his every whim for a few days after is a sufficiently generous gift.

I got £39 - I am sure I could have got more but at that point I just wanted rid!

Barmaid, I must say to my Husband who shall be obeyed 😙

Redhelen,  I (he ) paid £30.  I think you did ok if you just wanted rid

thats good to know Clover - cheers

Sadly I have no significant other on which to lavish my riches every December.

We stopped buying both cards and presents for each other, for Christmas and birthdays, a long, long time ago.

What we do is treat ourselves to a fancy meal with wine pairing a couple of times a year, not on any particular date, just when it suits us, as that's our favourite thing to do. We currently have one booked for mid February.

Fortunately i do not have a significant other to add to the burden of Christmas expenses. 3 daughters, a son and 10 grandchildren are quite enough, thank you very much. The troble is, some of my grandchildren are of an age where they will soon be making me a great-grandad, thereby increasing my xmas spend. Bah, humbug.

I've given up buying presents for him as he is never happy.

 "Didn't they have another colour?"

 "Does it come bigger/smaller?"

"Did they have it in short/long sleeves?"

and the best one of all "I don't like it!!"

Never, never again!!!

If anything, it will be yet another book.  Christmas has very low priority in our  in our small family.

himself claims I am too fussy - so is happy to buy me gardening vouchers

You can't go wrong with socks. Really, everyone loves socks.

I agree it gets harder and harder !! He doesn't have any hobbies, doesn't read, he just works eats and sleeps!! But I hate not getting anything, so this year he has aftershave, some lounge shorts, for just chilling indoors, a personalised notepad/pen for his office, and a couple of other bits but tbh I can see why his mum n dad gave up buying for each other years ago. Instead they now choose something for the house that they both want.
