50th Birthday Ideas..
5 Answers
Hi, its my dads 50th birthday in about a months time, and i have no idea what to give him! So I was thinking of making something...something different, but relevant to how its his 50th and that its supposed to be a special one. Wasn't sure what category to put this under.. He doesnt have many hobbies, is a land surveyor, likes cars I suppose, and he is obsessed with our barn in France at the moment, as he is renovating it practically on his own. But if you have any gift suggestions, that would help too, and also any possible celebration ideas (so far mum has organised a meal out with the family). Mum wants to do more because dads friends' (who is also turning 50 this month) wife has organised a murder mystery party and booked a ferrari for the day for him. Sorry its so long!

if its something to make..... what about putting a scrapbook/photo album together for him and get people to write something about him in their own words... and try and include pictures of him with those people if you have them.
a friend of mine did that for her husbands 60th birthday, included family, friends, colleagues to take part, and it was actually a great read....and a very good idea, plus a keepsake for him, and he didnt realise just how much he meant to so many people around him.
people wrote things like, funniest moment, best remembered, how they would decribe him in three words, how he influenced some people, etc etc etc, it takes time but the finished result was well worth it. they presented it to him on a family meal out and he was so overwhealmed. very touching.

hi sunshine
what a nice daughter you are !
i think neenee ' s idea sounds great.
having just lost my dad, and hearing so many lovely things about him from a lot of people at his funeral, i was struck by the thought that he would have loved to hear those things when he was alive. we dont tell people how special they are to us without an excuse - so here is the perfect excuse ! hope it goes well hun !
