Evening all!
My friend had a baby girl today (marissa - 7lb 6oz!) and I don't know what to get - she's already got all the basic stuff as she has another daughter (3) and I don't really want to just buy clothes coz everyone else is!
I'm looking to spend about 20(ish)
Any ideas appreciated - thanks in advance!

The one I liked the most was a selection of pampering items for the new mum. Things like essential oils, body lotion, scented candles ect. With a something simple for the baby like a pair of bootees.
Having had a couple of kids myself i really liked this idea!!

i know you said you werent keen on buying clothes but these look lovely http://www.babybumbles.co.uk/bouquets.htm
The papers from today, the number one single in the chart - we did that for our own and it's very basic, but effective.
Someone got my eldest son some bookends handmade, with his names on. They're lovely. It works better with a name you can't find ready-made, so Marissa would be a good one!!! There's such a lot of old tat with names already on, but having something made for an unusual name might be good?

I like these music boxes:

When my son was born in March I think I received about 2 teddies and one musical mobile for his cot, the rest were clothes - that's in addition to the clothes passed down from family and friends - I swear I don't need to buy him any new clothes until he's about 2! While it's really sweet, clothes are the easiest thing to buy and they grow so quickly she may only be in some outfits once or twice before she's grown out of them.

Or books. I bought my niece the first Beatrix Potter - the little square ones - when she was born, and wrote inside the cover. Then I got her the next in the series for each birthday and Christmas, with a little note in each one. She's 16 next month, and loves her, now complete, little library, complete with personal memories inside of each landmark she reached. There are 26, so it took a while, but it was well worth it!
Another ABer recommended this one to me...
