Hi, does anyone have any idea of what to buy their Mum for Christmas?I know it's a bit early! Thinking of sening about 200. All ideas welcome. She's 60 if that helps narrow the choice down a bit. Thanks!
Does she have any old photos that could do with restoration?
My mum had dozens of tiny little b&w photos, some of them in tatty condition, which I sent off to a professional to have copied & improved. It cost me 230 for about 40 photos, and the results were amazing.
last year 4get, myself and our brother and sister paid for mum and dad to have a joint present. It involved a flight to edinburgh, a hotel stay and tickets to see chitty chitty bang bang.
As something to open xmas day we bought lots of little stocking filler pressies and some were clues to the bigger present.
How about something along those lines, a weekend away or a theatre trip?
I get my mum tickets for me and her to go to the theatre together around Christmas time, we don't see enough of eachother so we like making these trips together now and then.
They will be hibernating at the moment, so she'll have 3 or 4 months to secure the garden and read up on tortoise husbandry.
They are fabulous animals, require little attention (apart from some fresh fruit and veg and a few worms) and if she has grandchildren, they will love it as well.
Moonshadow: I've done the Chatsworth trip several times. First time as a 'date' and later to take clients. It's a lovely trip.
I also enjoy the trip to Bath. It's an extremely short time in bath - just enough to buy some antiques or empty the silver shops, then back to the train for more food and champagne!
And...for a mother daughter trip, they're fantastic 'just the two of you' memories!
I sent my parents on the Orient Express day trip to London as by the age of 60 they had almost everythng they wanted. I was a bit wary as it costs for just one day, but it was the best experience they had ever had and haven't stopped talking about it.
Have you got any old cine films I had all ours put on video, you can have them put on disc as well, depending how many it costs between 100 - 200. Most photographic places do them and if not they will recommend. It was a great surprise for the family as the old films had been lying around for years. Its great fun seeing parent, kids etc looking younger with all the silly fashions.
Spa Day vouchers can be bought for around 100 - 150. You could buy two, for you and her, or for her and a friend. They are fantastic, I recommend them to everyone!
someone beat me to it ...we had all our old cine films put onto discs for my mum and that was the best present ever ...kept the whole family amused for days and she loved it!
I've bought my mum a block of reflexology sessions as she LOVES having her feet rubbed...Last year, i bought her a subscription ot her fave magazine, which also went down very well....
