Dotty, I know you are interested in researching various archives, so I wonder if you can help me please.
I am writing an article for a local magazine about John Raphael Peacey. Apparently he received a Military Cross during WW1, but I have been unable to get confirmation of this, despite looking on various websites that list medal recipients.
Do you know of any websites that I am likely to find that information.
Many thabks

C. Michael Hawn wrote last year that
"John R. Peacey (1896-1971) was born in Brighton, Sussex, England. After his basic education at St. Edmund’s School in Canterbury, Peacey served in France during World War I, receiving the Military Cross".

Perhaps you could ask him for his source?
He's Professor of Sacred Music at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. His email address is [email protected]

Hi Chris,
That link is brilliant, I do a series of articles for the local church magazine about hymns and hymn writers, so I shall make use of it.
Regarding J R Peacey, I shall certainly contact the author of that article, thanks for the email address. I think I am right in saying that the Military Cross was only awarded to offices, so if that is so, he must have had a commission.
