my wife has got 2 credit cards recently, vanquis and cap one,,she,s had second thoughts and decided not even to use them , she hasnt even activated them, i want her to build her credit rating over the years as i imagine its going to get harder to get good credit, if she doesnt use them will she still be charged anything ? if she destroys them will her credit rating still be good or is it better to use them a little and build her rating up ?
the applications came through post weeks ago and she filled them in but now is deciding maybe its better not to start using credit cards, you know what people are like sometimes when out shopping for a new dress or shoes , it can get out of hand ;-)
I should add that some fee-charging cards I've seen charge you the annual fee the first time you use it. Even more important not to use the card - call the issuer and cancel it.
If you want to build up a credit rating then use the cards and establish a good payment record.
If you feel you cannot control yourself on spending the destroy them and forget about a credit rating - you re never going to get anything but a bad one.
