I have always in the past purchased a security programme for my computer, but have been told that it is possible to download a free one. I don't use the computer for banking, but do buy shopping and pay online, and pay various bills etc. so would need it to be very secure. I also email and use it for browsing and social networking, but do not download many programmes.
Have any fellow A.B's got suggestions which may be the right one for me, or is it better for me to change the programme I have (which I find very slow) and purchase another.
I used Norton and got a load of viruses resulting in having to have my computer completely wiped and a load of hassle. The computer shop told me to have AVG instead.
Microsoft Security Essentials IS an Anti-Virus program.
You should only have ONE on your PC. More than one may well conflict, and cause you lots of grief!
I can't/don't have time to bring out all the AVG issues at the moment, but several of us teckies here have good reason at the moment to recommend MSE, Avast or (paid for) Norton 2011/2012.
ALbags, when I installed MSE, it told me I wasn't covered for , something else, I think it was firewall and I needed to install,........... MSE gave me options so I did and chose AVG from the options the gave me.
