Don't really know where to post this...
I have inherited from my mother an almost full boxed bottle of Eau de Joy (Patou). Does anyone know if it is likely to be either useable or saleable? It doesn't seem to have evaporated much but it must be 40 years old or more!
I'd take a photo of the bottle next to the box and stick it on ebay with a clear statement that it is as seen and no guarantees about contents - it's amazing what folk will buy and what's the worst that can happen?
I've bought perfume for my MIL on eBay which has been discontinued for years (she asked me to btw, I don't just buy her old stuff, LOL!) - you just have to list it as "part used" - and be honest if the scent has changed.
Joy certainyl was and might still be the most expensive non hand made perfume in the World so do not take hasty action as your old bottle could be extremely valuable.
Joy was always advertisd as the most expensive perfume in the world - I'm sure it will have gone off but as cookian says it could be very collectable for the bottle.
Thanks everybody for your helpful responses. I know that the Eau de Joy is much less expensive than the actual perfume but I didn't want to just throw it out if it was useable or collectable. It seems to have been kept in a box in a drawer so maybe it is still ok....
There are a lot of Perfume collectors use e-bay to get vintage bottles etc for their collection. I noticed this when looking for a particular perfume myself, worth having a look to see if there is anything similar on already that way you can get an idea what sort of price to look for.
