I have been watching an ebay item which has a starting price as well as a Buy It Now price. Once a bid is placed, the BIN price is no longer available. The seller has lots of this particular item all at the same starting/BIN price.

So I'm wondering why the last few of these items have sold for - or been bid up to - substantially more than the original BIN price, especially as the auction end dates are much longer than if you were to buy one of the seller's other listings.

These buyers are paying more than they need to for an item that they could receive much sooner... madness!

Because people get caught up in bidding madness...

I've seen second hand items go for more than you could buy the same thing for new several times (the last one was a pure DAB radio that sold for about £30 more than the new price of the same radio)

I'd call it stupidity...
I laugh :)
Possibly lazyness and not finding the best price. But in all honestly it is more likley to just be a reflection of the average intelligence of the human species.

I've just bid on another one of these items at 1p less than the BIN price... and yes, I've been outbid!
anyone remember the PG tips monkeys with suckers on their hands and feet that came free with teabags? You could go to Tesco, buy the teabags and get the monkey withthem for less than the monkey was selling for on ebay AND there was p and p on top!
Reminds me of when I was selling a Criss Angel DVD. I think I paid £22 ish maybe a lil' more, poss £24, when I bought it. I decided to sell it on and I would have been happy getting around £15 ish for it. There were others available on Ebay with a BIN price around £22 - £24 ish. I put it on with a start price of 99p and let it run its course.
Imagine my surprise when it got bid up to just short of £30 - do people not bother doing a search ?? The others that were on at the time, were exactly the same as mine, with a BIN price of £22 - £24 ish (can't remember exactly how much) ....... madness lol ............
