Went to see daughter SIL and 5 grandchildren to say have a nice holiday, they are going to Croatia in the morning for 3 weeks. Daughter says"Seeing as you will not be babysitting or club runs, would you like a little job to keep you occupied while we are away?" OK says I what is it? The sock box, this is a big plastic box full of odd socks that need matching up, but it is no longer a box, it is a full size plastic bin bag that fits a wheely bin. Now I have done this job before and know how frustrating it can be. I agreed to do it as I always try to help out where I can. When we got home, just out of curiosity I counted them, 439 odd socks. I got stuck in tonight, I have matched up 93 pairs so far. Got mounds of unmatchable ones, tomorrow I start on the black and navy, can't wait!

There is a difference between being occupied and being taken advantage of. Sorry about the hanging preposition.
sounds like you are being fleeced. Darn, are they well heeled?
I can't believe what you agreed to do or that your daughter asked you to do it. Are you really going to spend tomorrow doing the same?
Now, that's what I call living!
I presume the socks have been previously washed?
I went through my OH's socks, he now needs some new ones. There are more single ones than pairs.
Chuck the rest away Caron pleeease! The more socks they have the more this will happen and that's far too many socks for one family!

If there are 7 people in the house and they all have 10 pairs of socks each thats only 140 socks. 20 pairs each is still only 280, they cannot possible use 439!

They are all clean. I am not being taken advantage of at all. I do what I can to help because we are family. She works and the children all belong to all sorts of after school clubs so I do my share when I can. I also say no some times.
I will probably do a bit tomorrow while watching the Olympics.

Maidup the 439 are the unmatched ones, they all have drawers full of pairs as well.
That sounds like an awful lot of socks, but saying that, I need to do a sock sort out - we only seem to use the ones at the front of the drawer (but they are all paired up).
if there is 439...there is going to be one odd sock left is there not?

Thought it was just me - I even tried to buy all plain black socks, but they just don't seem to match. Different lengths, different thicknesses and even the tops are not the same! Where do they all go to?
LOL @ 439 pairs of socks between 7 of them.

I had a clearout of my knicker drawer the other day, decided to put them into colours and roll them so they are all neat in lines in the drawer instead of just being thrown in as usual. I was HORRIFIED to discover I have 80 pairs - 37 black, 15 cream, 13 different colours, 15 white! Does anyone else have this many?

Ann, on the bright side, if your washing machine ever breaks down you could go for 80 days before you'd need to wash knickers.............;-)
160days if you are seriously desperate ;0>

hahaha xxx
oooh Tinks! I think 80 days to get a man in to fix a washer is more than enough time
Im manless! :0(((

Hahaha xx
Dye or hot wash to make them all the same color....1hour, done
