I'm looking for something to hang on the back door to keep the blooming blackbird out when I leave the door open in this lovely weather!

I was thinking about those beaded curtain jobs, but I really don't want it to look like a 1970s chip shop.

Anyone else have one of these curtains? Or recommendations on what I can get? Or even a suggestion on how to keep the local wildlife out of the house?

Blackbird? Let him in, invite all his friends, and make a nice pie!

I wouldn't mind if he was house trained!

Thank you, bookbinder. I've found a couple on there that might do the trick!
That's great! Glad I could help!
I had a beaded curtain up to keep the flies out at my dads and it actually didn't look too bad. Plus as they are just held on with small hooks, you can take them down when you have posh people coming round :)

I don't know anyone posh, Ev!

I spotted mesh curtains in the link bookbinder posted. They might be a better idea as I think the kids will pull all the beads off a beaded curtain. Lord knows they don't need any encouragement to destroy stuff!
Oohh, get the Mona Lisa one! Practical AND stylish! ;)

That one did jump out at me and made me smile!
we have a wooden bead curtain at the back door - it doesn't actually keep anything out (least of all flies) but the principle's good :-)
We got this and it's ok as a temporary solution:

Thanks for all your replies. I think I'll try one of the mesh door cover thingys. Hopefully the kids won't burst a child shaped hole in it, and the birds will stay (and poop) outside!
I'd advise checking how they should be fitted beforehand. Some have velcro fixings to hang them over the door and some have screws. (Obviously a problem if you have PVC door and frame.)
