Blinds

I have safety roller blinds in the kids' rooms, but a normal one in the livingroom.

It's one with a plastic beaded chain to roll the blind up and down.

Now, I know I could just replace the blind with a full-on safety blind, but at approx £100, I would like to try one of the safety devices I could attach to the existing one.

Has anyone had any experience with these things?

I found these on Amazon, but would be very happy to hear of any recommendations.

what's the difference between a safety roller and an ordinary one? I've not heard of safety rollers.

The safety rollers I have don't have a cord. You raise and lower them by pulling the bottom of the blind.

I don't see how that is much safer. A child could still easily get its head in the loop. It would be better to cut the loop, wouldn't it?

I have a hook which came with my blind on to which I just hang the loop out of a child's reach (much like item number 5 on your link).

P.S. Limited experience of effectiveness - only used when children visit.

Must say I have a stick on hook that I actually hang the cord from on our blinds. It can be high on the wall so no child can reach it, why let cords hang down when there can be no need to let them? That's my solution but perhaps I'm not in the elf n safety brigade. Just my opinion to maybe throw a different light on the situation.

Those breakers do work , certainly on light pulls. Why not do both - ft a breaker and hook the cord up, doubly safe.

I used to hook the cord up before we invested in safety roller binds, so I may just do that again.

I just wondered if these devices were better.
