I'm trying to decide whether or not to spend 100 quid on GHD hair straightners. Are they really really that much better then other ones? Others I have tried dont seem to get my hair as straight as I would like and it doesnt last very long. are they worth it?

I had the same dilema as you.. I've got quite thick, reasonably wavy hair, and although I've always been able to blow dry it really smooth - I can't get it poker straight (nor can my hairdresser!)

Many years ago I had a cheaper brand of straigheners which I probably only ever used 3-4 times at most - they were so crap.  So I accepted I'd never have dead straight hair & was never overly convinced about the whole "ghd" thing. 

Until 2 yrs ago, when I had some extra cash so I decided to go for it & buy some.  They are brilliant - well worth the money.  It was the first time I'd ever seen me with poker straight hair!!  And no fuzziness or dry straw-like ends either!!  They can be used to curl & wave your hair too (all shown in the book that comes with them).  AND they heat up in about 8 seconds!

If you dont buy them, you'll only buy another cheaper brand which you won't be happy with!!  Think of them as an investment!!  Have u looked on ebay to see if there's any bargains? 

All I will say - the only disadvantage is they really damage your hair (because of  how hot they get!) so may not be a good idea if you use them ALL the time.  I learnt my lesson & stopped using them for a while to give my hair a breather.  Now I blowdry mine straiight in sections first, then run the straighteners over once just t finish off.

I'm the fussiest person I know when it comes to hair, and I'm a ghd convert... definitely recommend.  Hope you've found some help in all my waffling on !!!

hello, i have waist length very silky hair that doesnt hold very well, i went through 4 pairs of straighteners before my mum got me ghd's for christmas, and i have never looked back!

I love them, and would recommend them even if they were �150!!

www.ghds.co.uk  have an offer to get iron oil and heat mat too, go for the thin salon styler, the thicker ones are awkward and the really thin ones are for short hair, you can also curl your hair with these, i do it, took a bit of practice but there is a leaflet that comes with the straighteners that tell you how to do it!

I've had 2 other types of hair straightners that were rubbish, and GHDs are the only ones that straighten my hair completely and it actually lasts! Left to do it's own thing, my hair is the closest thing to an afro that you will see on a white person!

The only downside to GHDs is that you can't marry them and have their babies they are THAT good!

I have very wavy hair that is very determined!

I have only ever had GHD straighteners and altho i don't use them all the time they are a God send!

However, I only paid 80 quid for mine cos I shopped around...  www.lookfantastic.com is a good start but don't forget the protecting products, essential for damage minimising!

If you look on eBay for GHD's you will find lots ranging from �40 to �75 if your unsure about spending all that money on them!

Yep GHD's are the best on the market. Always have been and you know that old saying, "buy cheap, buy twice". ;-)

Thanks for all your answers, decided that I would definately get some! One small problem now though, I went and threw my bloomin purse in the dump, and it had all of my cards in it so now I have to wait for replacements until I can get some. (hope its not an omen)! :-)

my sister works in a hairdressers in northwich cheshire ans at the moment they are doing a deal that if you want ghd striahteners bring in your old pair of straighteners they will give you 20 quid of the ghd ones so check out your hairdressers just in case.  Good luck me love.
