My wife had exactly the same problem! When we were down town yesterday, she spent hours looking for something suitable, and finished up with a mug which said "Whatever" on it. Apparently, the guy won't know who actually bought the gift, so it doesn't really matter.

yes i had gone down the route of not really caring as he won't know, but i don't want to be thoughtless. My worst SS present was a pair of cashmere socks - owing to being disabled i havent been able to wear socks for about 15 years!

Have a look at Hawkins Bazaar. There are lots of shops popping up in different tows for Christmas, or look at: http://www.hawkin.com/ (there is 10% off online orders in November!)
