someone I know bought a leather sofa on DFS. The salesperson advised my friend to pay more in order to be covered for stain damage (for 3 years), the promise apparently being "if you get any marks or stains, all you have to do is call and we'll send someone round to clean it up no questions asked." After a year or so, my friend rang DFS to ask them to send someone round to clear marks and stains. My friend was passed from pillar to post - 8 staff in all - before being told to complete a claim form. When this form arrived, from an insurance company, it was 6 pages in all and demanded witness statements and photo evidence, so will take ages to complete. My friend has tried to complain that this was not as sold, but funnily enough DFS have thus far ignored the complaint. Anyone else had a similar experience?

we had exactly the same problem with a sofa form DFS that got accidentally damaged. My son had a sharp rivet on his jeans and he sat on the leather sofa, squirmed around a bit like teenagers do, and when he got up there were scratch marks on the sofa. As we were covered for accidental damage I put a claim in -they sent and inspector our and a few weeks later we got a letter saying the damage was not covered as it seemed to be wear and tear! Its a total con I would never shop there again.
