Isn't Amazon Prime is it?

You haven't clicked on that when you last ordered something did you? Or worse, accept the free trial then forget to cancel?
Did you do a preorder for anything? I often pre order books and films when they are first announced, they are listed in your amazon account by the date ordered which might have been a year ago.
I'd report it to them as soon as possible, I had an incident with Paypal, got an email saying I'd bought something for $20 I think it was.

I reported it to them and they emailed me back very quickly to confirm that it wasn't me and refunded me the money.

There is a report function here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/reports/contact-us

I know someone who was charged for Amazon Prime with no knowledge of ordering it but I think it was £97 they took from them, it was refunded after she contacted them.
There is a Contact Us option under "Need More Help" here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=gw_m_b_he?ie=UTF8&nodeId=471044

It requires you to log in though. Another thought is changing your password urgently if it looks like it is some kind of fraud.

problem solved
my wife ordered an item
never took note of it
all is ok now
it was a tv handset
thanks again
Ahh, good, glad you know for your own peace of mind :)
Glad it's sorted.
It's a shame your wife doesn't also have an AB account- you might have got your answer earlier.
Regarding emails from paypal (Eve's post) , I sometimes get ones saying I've been invoiced for something (last week was a subscription to an X box service) but these tend to be spam emails which don't mention my name and when i hover over the paypal address it's often somewhere in russia or rumania
