Stay Or Leave The Eu?

Like many people, I fail to understand Politics especially the leave or stay in the EU debate.

Obviously I don't want the laws of my country to be governed by another country like Belgium and we should be able to control our own borders to stopp the mass immigration.

But what about the economy? If we leave the EU, it will be harder for the UK to trade and plenty of people will lose their jobs.

Obviously I am struggling to find unbias and rational reasons for staying or leaving the EU since most papers are extremely bias.

Look at this site'Full Fact' it is run by a charity whose only aim is to present the 'full facts' about the benefits and disadvantages of both sides of the debate. It has no bias to 'leave' or 'remain' and just tells the actual facts.

The one fact is, we are getting Scaremongering, the 2nd fact, we are getting ruled by an unelected force, the 3rd fact, this Country will stand up as Europe Need us, The 4th, we are getting over run by persons trying to get into the UK, The 5th Fact, it shows how good the EU & the euro is when Spain / Greece, Ireland crumbles with the Currency, does that tell you enough about the EU?

We are not governed by other country's laws. 13.9% of our laws are based on EU Law.
EU Law is decided by the EU, not Belgium.
As a member of the EU we help to draw up those EU laws.

Economic blips get sorted quiclly and become irrelevant footnotes in history. Giving up the right to govern yourself independently takes a lot lot longer to correct.

Thechair the EU commission draws up the EU laws and the MEPs vote on them. But even if the MEPs don't agree to them they still get passed by the commission.

We have no say in which laws are introduced, our MEPs merely vote on whether they wish to accept or reject the ones passed to them, and even then they can be outvoted by the other cultures'/nations' MEPs and forced on us anyway. That doesn't even start to make it our laws. To even come near it would need an elected Commission plus each individual national government the right to veto the suggestion of each law put to them (with a default rejection if there's been no parliamentary time to discuss it).

What on earth makes you say that, Trevor? The UK trades with huge numbers of countries both within and outside the EU. Many places (such as the USA and Canada) have no trading agreements in place with either the EU or the UK. Trade takes place very successfully. In the case of Canada our trade is growing quite considerably and we are Canada’s biggest trading partner in Europe (without a trading agreement, remember – the EU has been trying to negotiate one for seven years).

Excuse me whilst I sew up my sides which have split with laughter. Only the EU Commission can draft legislation (MEPs cannot do so). Each of the 28 countries has one commissioner. The UK’s current Commissioner is one Jonathon Hill (no, me neither). He is Commissioner for “Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union” (so not only have I never heard of him but I wouldn’t have a clue what he does). So how much “help” do you reckon Mr Hill provides when the EU is drawing up legislation on, say, immigration policy or the proposed pooling of member nations’ defence capabilities? Then, as has been mentioned, the UK consistently gets outvoted on measures it opposes. I don’t have the exact figures to hand (they are easily available) but in around 80% of instances where the UK opposes legislation (raising to more than 90% on financial matters) it ois passed nonetheless. So much for helping to draw up EU laws.

If you don’t know how to vote, Trevor, vote to leave. You’ll never have another chance and the risks associated with remaining are too horrendous to contemplate.

Out of the vile EU and into... the world, the great big beautiful world. There are 196 countries in the world and only 28 are stupid enough to be in the EU. The other 168 all seem, in the main, to trade very nicely thank you. The EU holds us back, always has, always will.
