I've just been staying at my daughters for a few days. Her mobile phones LED touchscreen broke last month when her 20 month got hold of it stand dropped it on floor so she went to a local place (it's a permanent stall/lock up in centre of town) who only do mobile repairs and they replaced it for £80 . They had it for 5 days. The day I got there she went into lounge and just casually tossed phone on sofa seat and then sat down to use it. She looked at screen and it was smashed. She couldn't quite believe it as it hadn't hit anything etc- literally like dropping it 10 inches onto a pillow. So we've gone bk to the repair people and said maybe it hadn't been fitted correctly as it should never have broken like that. They said tough basically and if she'd thought it was faulty she should have brought it back in first 14 days. Well obviously there was nothing wrong in 1st 14 days. Anyway they said all their repairs only have 14 day warranty and if they break/develop any fault whatsoever after that then tough luck. Is that typical to be so short a warranty time??
I wouldn't be happy with a 14-day warranty on a repair.....but, of course, they don't have to offer ANY warranty at all.
Unfortunately, the time to find out about a repair-warranty is BEFORE you leave it to be repared. Little you can do now...unless there is something in writing to the contrary.
I hate to say this, but that seems awfully expensive. Husband threw his across a car park, idiot forgot it was in his hand when pointing out the pay box to someone. Local Mobile Shop charged £45 and it has been perfect for nearly a year now.
Trading Standards probably your best bet.
Two suggestions - a quality impact absorbent case and a laminated screen protector will give it a better chance of surviving the toddler - £20-30 should cover both.
