Multi Region Dvd Player

I Subscribe to the AnswerBank most weekends to hopefully get answers to the crosswords in the Sunday press and I wonder if the AnswerBank is also a forum to supply info on how to convert single region DVD players to Multi-Region players ?
I have a Sony DVD-SR760H dvd player which will only play region 2 DVDs
I have quite a few region 1 DVDs which won't play on my player
Is this forum the correct way to perhaps get this info - if it is available ??

You might be out of luck.
The Dvdreviewer website seems to have morphed into myReviewer.com (and imported their content). The only hack given for your DVD player suggests that its remote control doesn't have the necessary capability and that you need to use a universal remote control instead. However the two models mentioned are both out of production and not available through either Amazon or eBay:

It might still be worth trying the instructions under 'Once your remote control is programmed' anyway, either with your DVD player's own remote control or with any other universal remote control you use.
The manufacturers of DVD players are contractually obliged to ensure that they can only be used on one region and it's now getting far harder than it used to be to hack them into multi-region capability.
It might be simplest to fork out thirty quid for another DVD player:

I expected that there wouldn't be something readily available - more's the pity !
It's not really an issue for me in the long run as I can make DVD copies of my region 1 DVDs (this is legal I understand !)and the copies work perfectly in any DVD player !!

Well you're not going to get arrested for it but the strict answer to that is "No it's not!"
Unlike in, say, the USA, replicating copyright material (even solely for your own use, such as ripping CDs to MP3 format) has always been illegal in the UK except for a brief period, a few years ago, when the Government thought that they'd changed the rules to allow it. However that decision was overturned by the courts and ANY unauthorised duplication of audio or video content remains illegal in the UK.
