Old Family Photograph
2 Answers
I have just found an old family wedding photograph which might date from around 1900. My grandparents are in it, as a young couple. There is a name on the cardboard frame - "Van Trotga, London and Brighton"
I'd love to date it. All the women are wearing massive hats, with either half a windowbox on them or a bunch of dead birds, together with dresses to the ground. The bride and bridesmaids have huge bouquets, and so does a woman who may well be the bride's mother. The photo seems to have been taken in the garden of a house. I have searched for "Van Trotga" to no avail. ( Actually, the hats may not be a good clue, since I recall being told that most of my ancestresses were milliners, and they may have been showing off. ) Anyone help me date the photo ?
