What kind of people are now running hospitals? Not knocking it by any means but some people seem to be in the wrong jobs.
My mum went into hospital on Thursday for a knee replacement. Shes 84 and has got heart and kidney failure but was given the go ahead for the surgery (which surprised us all) but the surgery went ahead. Went to see her yesterday and she was crying with the pain. On top of that she now has low oxygen levels and other 'complications'. Havnt been able to visit today but rang my sister who has. My sister had a word with the ward nurse and asked..
Why is she been left in so much pain, answer...shes in the best place
Why is her oxygen levels so low...shes in the best place
Why is she having trouble breathing....we don't know but shes in the best place.

Is a straight answer too much trouble?
My mum also told my sister that she'd asked the same nurse for some extra pain relief and got fobbed off with ''yes, we will sort it later'' and then went of duty.

I'm going up the hospital tomorrow and if I don't get any satisfactory answers then God help them....

When my uncle was in there didn't feed him. They put food on his table but he couldn't move his arms.
Your sister should have been more forceful. That's not good enough!
When my friend's Mum was in hospital and the end was imminent, my friend asked the nurse if the fact her hands were slowly going blue if this was a sign.
The nurse said "I don't know"
At the same hospital a nurse on the ward spent most of the time on the computer looking at the internet and when you interrupted her, boy did she get shirty.

Tilly, my sister is quiet pushy but obviously not pushy enough.
I wont be too pleased tomorrow when I visit if I get the same fob off....
And neither will they!

Same scenario here by all accounts.
He also got body lice while he was there.

I'm half cut at the mo so please forgive me, but I'm fookin fuming. My mums in so much pain and I feel helpless and the staff that are supposed to be looking after her are useless. Ill sort it one way or the other tomorrow....
Just ranting at the mo, I apologise.
Probably on Twitface moaning about how the patients are interfering with their cyberlife. Why access to sites, apart from those necessary to the job, isn't forbidden is beyond me. Certainly in my last job only work-approved sites were accessible.
Rant away...

I don't remember hospitals been this way! Ive always received excellent care in the past. When did hospital staff start getting recruited from the gestapo?

Like I said, I'm half cut at the mo but if I disappear from AB for a while its because I'm in custody for battering hospital staff that couldn't give a f*** about my mum. I'm seriously worried (given her age) And we cant get a straight answer, Just ''she's in the best place''
No *** Sherlock, but that's not answering the question.

I feel like I'm about to go of my head again...
Unfortunately, nailit, just about the worst place anybody can be when they are ill is in hospital. No proper rest (nurses fannying about all night keeping you awake); no proper food; waking you up (when you finally do get to kip) to give you a sleeping pill; exposed to all sorts of infectious diseases.

I do hope your Mum recovers well.

My daughter used to be a nurse and when the degree based nursing training was brought in, around the year 2000, she had the feeling that nurses would not have the same dedication as the ones who, like her, were trained on the ward by a sister who really knew her stuff. Daughter left nursing to have her children and never returned to it. I think she was proved right.
my mum is currently in hospital and i think the nursing care is good by and large. I am too far away to get there but the family are visiting regularly. I phoned the hospital on the phone they use for patients and ended up speaking with a very helpful doctor. Who explained my mums problems and what they are doing to alleviate them, i am keeping my fingers crossed that she gets the treatment she needs and deserves. Luckily my niece is a nurse at the same hospital so can pop down and see her
Why was Zac's post removed.......it was accurate, to the point, helpful and not in any way disrespectful?
sqad
i didn't see his post but whole threads go for no known reason.
emmie...I was going to post one similar to Zac in the hope that nailit would benefit....Zac beat me to it.
I hope this is not going to be an example of the attitude of our "new" Mods.
I found it harsh.
