I am going to a baby shower and need to get a present. The mum to be has 3 weeks maternity leave before the baby is due and said she would like some books to read in this time. Can anyone recommend a good book that might inspire or provide top tips. She has read the Jules Oliver one which is the obvious choice.
Thanks

One that I read on maternity leave before my baby was born was The Best Frinds Guide to Pregnancy Or Everything Your Doctor Won't Tell You, by Vicki Iovine. As you can tell by the title, it is quite funny, but does give some useful and very reassuring information. It's a good one to read when you are confused by all the conflicting advice that's out there. I got a copy for a friend who was pregnant and she loved it!
Why don't you give her a very special present. Give her a piece of paper with: I.O.U. 5 hours of babysitting written on it!!!! My friend got this at her baby shower, and when the time came that she needed to go out, she thought it was the best present ever!!!!!!

Why does it have to be a baby book?

I think that would be the last thing I'd want... Somehow as soon as you get pregnant you seem to be defined as a mother, not a person in your own rights any more.

I would buy her a nice book with no connection to babies. To give a recommendation I'd need to know what she's into though...
