Is This Company Safe To Buy From??

I know that many of the adverts on Facebook are from dodgy retailers, but this one looks good.

Can anyone tell me if it is safe for me to purchase something?

Only had a brief squint at reviews - poor quality, small sizing,poor customer service.

Grumpy - the problem is that all the retailers who advertise on FB seem to be dodgy. Where did all the honest people go?

More confirmation I was wise to not sign up to FB.

Hopkirk - FB is a strange place. Ideal for circulating lost Cat, dog or human posts but there are too many eejits hanging around for me to spent much time there.

Useful for keeping in touch with family and friends, I only take a look at businesses recommended by people close to me who have used them and they are often local small traders.

I've traded with quite a few companies who appear on Facebook and never had any trouble. Generalising after one or two bad experiences is misleading.

Why do so many with little or no experience of Facebook criticise it ? Perhaps it's them at fault, not the platform.

Today on FB I've spoken to my 3 kids and my MIL. Not once was I tempted to buy anything.

They are not complying with UK consumer law, some of the T&Cs are illegal, like these
Final sale items, promotions, freebies are not eligible for return or exchange.
Soulmia is not responsible for delays due to some unpredicted factors (weather, courier factors, customer error, holiday-related delays) or any other unforeseen factors.

Even on the UK site they give the shipping costs in USD. I would avoid.

I always find lovely clothes advertised on Facebook, but when you look at the reviews, they are all terrible and come from China. I don't even bother to investigate anymore.

The whole community mobilised using Facebook during the last lockdown in a way that it could never have done if it didn't exist. You only ever hear negative, usually bullying stories, never the ones that are positive.

My hairdressers dog went missing a couple of years ago, she posted it on FB. Within minutes, there were dozens of posts with people leaving their houses to go out in the lashings of rain to look for a dog they didn't know for a woman they had never met.

We'd be poorer without it.

rocky, my wife was tempted by some beautiful clothes she saw advertised on FB but it was obvious they were far too cheap. One dress was £10, We dug in to it and found that the sellers had cloned a genuine company's webpage selling mostly handmade goods. The proper price of that dress was over £200. We reported it to FB and the relevant bodies - and FB did remove it within 4 hours.

The downside is my wife just had to buy something from the real company :( But it made her very happy :D

rocky often those clothes and other items don't even exist. I know on facebook a lady whose mum got taken for 200 quid because she saw an ad offering a 900 quid overlocker and thought she'd get it for her daughter for christmas and another lady who makes her own designs of re enactment clothing. All her clothing is historically accurate and made form natural materials, the dresses cost hundreds if not thousands. Her photos were stolen and used on a fake website priced at under 100 per dress, you wouldn't even buy the fabric for that! A good tip is to take the image and do a google image look up, very often it will show you the website that actually sells the item.

There are a lot of things to like about FB, it made it very easy for my Church to organise support for local people during lockdown who were not able to go out. Many people got involved who would otherwise not have been aware and many people had a lifeline and helpmeet.

I agree, woofgang, these scammers used to be found in markets and car boots selling fakes and dodgy gear, they used to advertise in the back pages of newspapers. They have found another outlet, another way to scam and con.

Obviously, you have to be careful when looking at adverts on the internet, not just FB. For instance, the same ones pop up on here quite regularly. That being said, I have bought stuff from reputable companies that I didn't know existed until they popped up on my news feed.

At the moment, I'm coveting a pair of runners from a company called Allbirds that keep on hounding me with adverts. I'm trying hard to resist.

Wolf, be careful as I ordered something from one of these FB adverts at the beginning of August, and I still haven't received it yet.
Every time I message them all they say is 'they've checked with their supplier, item is on its way and delivery is taking longer due to the pandemic'.
But how much longer do I give them?
I've asked for refund as I do not believe I will get my goods after all this time, but they just ignore.

Personally would not , once I had read all the t&c s I thought no plus coming from China . So went with a company saying they were London based and it was only after I paid that I was informed it was coming from China! It did arrive after weeks of waiting if I could I would have returned it but you had to pay postage to return stuff , another gem i was only told after paying . So now I stick to company's that I recognise :)
