Hi folks, can anyone tell me if they have ever bought a new car on the 'internet'. Is it safe, or are there certain things I should watch out for. Could there be problems claiming under the warranty for instance? I'm thinking of a new Vauxhall Astra. Any tips would be much appreciated.

As long as the place you are buying from are a large "known" company then I should forsee no problem. A new cars warranty is held with the dealer network, so you are able to take it to your local Vauxhall garage.

I bought a car on the internet a couple of years ago through a web-based car broker.

They source the car from a UK main dealer - coincidentally, the main dealer they sourced my car from was my local dealer.

Have not had any problems - plus, a big advantage was that the car broker got me a whopping 7,000 off the list price.

I bought a Clio through autobytel in May 2005. Could not fault the service I received.

Saved 1700 off list price for new one and trade in value of the old one was 1000 more than local dealer. Makes you think!!

Go for it.
