Alarm Clock

The problem.

My elderly mother has a carer who comes in partly to plate up her evening meal, but this require Mum to put her ready meal in the oven at the appropriate time.

 

With her advanced years this is becoming an issue.

I need an alarm clock that I can set to go off at the same time every day. Mum needs to be able to silence it by pressing one button and it then to go off next day.

Any complicated procedure to reset it is a no no. 

Can anyone suggest a suitable clock?

 Could you set an alarm on your phone and then call her? Moght be easier than trying to set up something for your mum.

Does your mum have a microwave? It might be better for the carer to cook it when she gets there.

A big company has made the ready meal.

There are several alarms of this type but it greatly annoys me that they are all so expensive

The ready meals are mostly Waitrose, Charlie Bigham and Cook

Lenovo has an alarm clock which can be set up in advance.

I thought you meant the "ready meal" was already cooked and just needed to be reheated by the carer.

Well it is precooked, but chilled or frozen.

Most of the ready meals from the supermarkets are either chilled or frozen and only take a short time to heat up in a microwave .

Every standard alarm clock can be set to go off every day.  Its finding one with a big stop button that's difficult

Yes. Most have a snooze button but not a cancel button.

If she had internet I'd suggest an Alexa device or similar.

When her partially sighted husband was alive we tried out a Google mini smart speaker. He didn't get on with it.

Several family members tried it out since but it is now in the loft as no one liked it.

I am now looking on Amazon at dementia clocks which show day and date as well as morning / afternoon / evening / night. At the moment only the day of the week prompt would help her.

However they also have customisable medication alarms so perhaps I could use one of them for the meal.

That's a shame. I've googled children's alarm clocks, clocks for the elderly, simple alarm clocks....

If you're handy it might be possible to replace the teeny tiny off button with a big button, or modify it in some way

Yes, I saw them but fretted about the batteries running out.
