I am thinking of buying this camera. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons based on their own experience.

Also, who is offering the best price at present?

Any info will be most appreciated.

My in-laws said they would buy us a camera for Christmas so we did a lot of research and this is the exact model we bought (also called a Powershot SD550 in America).

I love it because it has a whopping 2.5cm screen on the back (this is the only improvment over the Ixus 700 but well worth it) and the video mode is also excellent for taking small clips.

The 7.2 Million pixels are great and it's much smaller than I expected.

It has a great build quality and you can set it to do things automatically or manually if you are more professional. It also has some easy to set options (snow, dark etc) for taking pictures in extreme lighting situations.

I've teamed it with a 1Gb Smart Digital memory card because the size of the pics mean that it can gobble memory but this card has allowed me to take 100s of photos and a dozen videos without filling it.

It comes with easy software to send photos to the computer with intuitive controls.

If it does have a downside the buttons are a little fiddly but no more than any other digital camera that we tried.

I can't recommend this camera enough and you should be able to get it for much less that Recommended Retail price if you look at pricerunnner.
