I ordered a telly from Argos 2 weeks before xmas and they took the money out of my account the next day. I have received a letter from them saying I will not receive the telly until 13th Feb due to demand. Are they in their rights to keep my money so long without delivering the goods?

You may be able to ask for it back, but it means you jump out of the queue for getting your product on time.

I would say you have a very slim chance at getting your money back for an order already placed. It took me 3 months to get a refund from them recently.

They are useless at their home delivery. I had major problems when I placed an order, to be delivered on a certain day, which I took off work to sign for (as I was told it couldnt be left without a signiture)

Of course it never came and when I phoned they couldnt tell me where it was, when it could be delivered, nor could they cancel the order or refund me.

After 2 months and 30 of phone calls (to very rude unhelpful staff) I was still no further forward and when they eventually cancelled the order, I found it dumped on the doorstep a week later, with no-one having signed for it, which made it even longer until I got my refund

They really are a law unto themselves and the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

They are not able to take the money until the item leaves the warehouse, its breaking the law. speak to trading standards.
