Shopping in Brighton
I'm taking my 16 year old daughter to Brighton this w/e. I haven't been for years, where to shop these days? I used to love The Lanes but have heard they're not what they were.
We'd like to steer clear of the usual high st stores as we can get to these anytime
Also, anywhere really nice to lunch?

If you're driving, all of the central car parks are within easy walking distance of North Laine. (Although, if you're paying for parking in Brighton you won't have much money left for shopping anyway!).
There are plenty of good eating places around North Laine but I can't recommend anything in particular because I never notice the names. (I just look for somewhere interesting and walk in).
There's a great description of North Laine, here:

Hi Ali,
That's right, North Laine has the best shopping, small interesting boutiques that are nice to nose around.
Come out of the station and go down Trafalgar Street which leads down under the station and to the begining of North Laine. When you've worked your way through you can cross north Street and get to The Lanes for more interesting little shops. Keep going and you get down to the seafront where you will find restaurants, cafes and artist's studios under the arches. If it's nice you can have lunch outside one of the restarants.
If you are there on sunday morning there is a car boot sale out the back of the station which is goo for vintage clothing, antiques, junk, etc. etc. etc.
