I have recently bought 20 pairs of socks in Primark for 8. They are extremely comfortable and I now intend to buy a lot more and never wash these ones as it is cheaper to buy new ones than wash the old ones.
Am I sad, mean or delusional?

I am Scottish and love a good bargain. But, yes, you are sad and mean. Wash them a couple of times and throw them out when they are just past their best.

Do you dry your tea bags out so that you can reuse them? I can't believe that anyone could be 'that' tightfisted.
I like a bargain also, but throw them out after each wear.... You must have got money to throw away.

wolf63 - I have never though to dry out tea bags to reuse them. What a good idea. Although I don't drink that much tea, when I do I prefer it weak. Thanks for the tip.

beejaybee - I never said that I was going to throw them out. I just haven't as yet thought of an alternative use for worn socks. Having said that, if it is cheaper to buy new pairs than to have them washed, then what is wrong with that?

If you wash them by hand in hot water surely that would be cheaper than buying new ones.

If you drive to the shops it would also cost you petrol and possibly parking but maybe you are in walking distance

Its not better for the environment for you to buy new ones and get rid of the old ones

Just for you, courtesy of Viz

Save a fortune on laundry bills. Give your dirty shirts to Oxfam. They
will wash and iron them and you can buy them back for fifty pence.

BOO - Thanks for the tip!! I remember reading a copy of Viz that someone had left on a train years ago and have since then saved a fortune by borrowing a lawnmower from my neighbour and plugging it in before taking it round to my lawn. He's got a socket in his garden shed and it is just about the right length!!

when you peel potatoes keep the peelings for a time when u have no food or money, then fry them up, delicious and cheap, just add ketchup. i actualy did this a couple of times when i was younger and really hungry.
I normally buy even cheaper socks from Poundland or similar. 3 or 4 pairs for a quid. And I am not going to wash those.

They are truely disposable. Put on a new pair every time, throw them in the bin when I'm done with them.
