Sociology of sport
4 Answers
I'm looking for an interesting sociological issue related to sport because I have to research one and write an essay, but I don't just want to do the typical ones like racism, violence, etc. Thanks!

Seemingly, sport has a hierarchy of culture. Some are
'high culture', eg. polo and croquet, some are 'middle
culture' eg, rugby and golf, and others are 'low culture'
eg football and dog-racing.
Why not compile a tentative hierarchy of all other sports,
with suggestions for their ranking ?
Personally, I play a lot of chess, but chess will never (?)
become popular, because chess-players are
generally perceived as being intellectually-gifted,
socially isolated nerds.
