I got a 2nd hand ps2 - with a years guarantee, 6 games, 2 controllers, the buzz jungle party game with buzzers from the GAME shop all for less than 100. It is great and my boys of 7 and 6 are very happy with it.
It helps with discipline and reward by getting extra time or time deducted.

Hi......... I would say nintendo wii wins everytime
It is fun for all the family and easy to use even for people who have never played a computer before.
You have to stand up and move your body not just sat here. so can burn calories whilst playing(GOOD EXERCISE) not just sat there pushing buttons. Kids will spend a lot of there time playing computer games so the nintendo wii will get them up and moving ....
And as parents you can play with them.. I have bought one and have used it with my partners little brother.. All four of us all played together we had so much fun.
It was also good too see there excitement in playing on the wii.. especially win they beat you..
In regards to money nintendo wii is the cheaper console and games are cheaper than playstation3 games...

ok first off kyra16 is soo wrong about the graphics. I would advise against what annie0000 said, I mean it's a very good point but games will be hard to come by for the ps2 by after christmas. Wii it's cheaper than ps3 and xbox 360, it's better for children as it's interactive so will tire them out hopefully (hehe) and then the games, they will be produced for ages to come and are aimed at younger children. Well there's more for younger children. Ps3 too expensive, and the games are all too old for your lads Id say like most are gorey or need plenty of thought. (I have ps3, wii and 360 so know from experience). Hope I've helped
I disagree about the games being harder to come by, there will be plenty of games both new and 2nd hand to occupy them for the next couple of years. The kids will be asking for the latest consol in a couple of years time anyway regardless of what you buy now, and you will find that what you get now will be redundant, you may as well save money until they are old enough to benefit from a more expensive console. If it was between a ps3 and a wii though, from speaking to colleagues, the wii seems to get the thumbs up - I would hurry though as they are already sold out in many places.
