Teaching Gift?
4 Answers
Hey everyone. My sister is in her last year of teacher training to become a primary school teacher. I am looking to buy her a present that will come in useful for her career. I have no ideas!! I would like it to be practical but also not too boring :D. Any ideas are welcomed.

my wife is a primary school teacher. To be honest the best things you can buy them are seen as boring.... the filofax isnt a bad idea, but what they seem to use a lot of are plastic storage boxes, two ring binders by the cartload, but what may be a good idea is a ipod. School doesnt finish when the kids go home and there is piles of planning, paperwork etc brought home. An ipod shuts you off from the world whilst you do that. Oh- how about a pair of matchsticks!! If she is going to be a primary school teacher she is going to be knackered and it might help keep the eyelids open!!
My niece is a schoolteacher and very proactive in making lessons useful for her pupils. She said that one of the most useful presents she ever received was a laminator, which enabled her to make posters and informative charts, for teaching purposes, and keep them protected in good condition so they could be used year after year.
Hmmm ... Gifts for a new teacher? Prozac? Caffeine tablets? Gin? Anti-depressants?
Oops! Sorry ;-)
I spent many years in teaching and I know just how stressful the first few years are. (The following years are just as stressful but you get used to it!)
Almost every teacher ends up carting loads of exercise books backward and forwards between school and home. Trying to find a suitable hard-wearing bag can be difficult. (Many teachers can be seen struggling into school with Tesco carrier bags spilling out exercise books everywhere). Why not buy your sister a leather pilot's case and possibly have her initials embossed onto it? (Any decent leather goods supplier should be able to do that).
