new to ebay

hi all, just wondered if any one could enlighten me, i 'm thinking of joining ebay and have been looking through the site for advice, have found a lot of help on here, but i'm still unsure how to work out the postage prices if i'm selling, i can't find it on the ebay site ? or am i looking in the wrong place ? would be grateful if one of you guys could point me in the right direction.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Hi there, I have been buying/selling on eBay for a few years now, I tend to use the Royal Mail website to get prices for posting, I weigh the item in question on a set of kitchen scales then look up how much it will cost on there, I haven't gone wrong yet, if something works out at say �1.28 (for example) ask for �1.75 that then allows for packing costs as well, if selling something like a mobile phone then offer recorded delivery as an option, don't forget this costs more, always get proof of posting in case something goes astray.

You need to way the packaging as well, don't forget. It can make a big difference to the cost.

Don't send mobile phones by recorded delivery - unless it sold for under �34.
�34 is the maximum compensation Royal Mail will pay out for recorded delivery - all it does is prove somebody signed for receipt of the parcel.
