How about a ruby red grapefruit and thena a holiday in Florida? If it's not your anniversary then perhaps a little on the dear side though. Ruby port from the year of the wedding?
Apparently the saucy outdoor pursuit of "Dogging" has become very popular with the over sixties recently, perhaps a guide to local sites might make a good gift.
Excuse me, but we're not all over sixty! It's out Ruby W.A. in September & by then I'll only be 57 yrs 1mth & hubby will be 58 yrs 7mths. Yep, we married very young & people said it'll only last 6 months! We've had our ups & downs like anyone, but are still very young at heart!
I was only joking beale, I've got a very good sense of humour, well I must have, to have been married nearly 40 years!!!! Thanks for your good wishes. What is 'dogging' though?
I got my mum and dad a ruby-red vase with a bunch of flowers (ruby-coloured) and an engraved photo frame (we had a red-coloured photo taken to go inside it). Because the frame is engraved (and congratulatory about their Anniversary) there is an eternal reminder of the occasion.
The General Register Office do commemorative wedding certificates for silver, ruby, gold and diamond anniversaries (only). They cost 40 (or they did 5 years ago) and make very acceptable gifts if the couple are into that sort of thing. If I could get hold of your e-mail address I could send a picture of my ruby certificate.
Answer for Smudge- 'Dogging' is where people have sex in their cars in public places (car parks etc) and people get turned on by watching them, and sometimes there are more than 2 couples at it at a time! must have pretty big cars!!
I agree with the glassware. We bought a beautiful ruby vase/fruit bowl from a specialist shop for my parents.
I can't think of the proper word, but if your feeling a bit flush have something especially commissioned by a glass maker.
Thanks Casey, I rather thought it was something to do with sex, so I was nearly right! Well my husband has a Land Rover Discovery, but I don't think we'll be joining any perverts for our Ruby Anniversary night! We have a little more respect for each other than that!
