(Although there was one time, whilst on thw way out to Majorca in the early 80s, when the ride was so bumpy the masks fell down, the landing so hard and the braking so erractic and the taxi so uncontrolled, that the passengers clapped out of joy to be alive. Did I cringe then? No I did not! Must of been a bad day at the office for the pilot)

The only explanation that I can think of is that they somehow feel the need to show off their knowledge by indicating that they recognise what song it is; and never mind ruining the enjoyment of those of us who want to listen to it properly.

I clap everytime because I'm happy to be alive! I hate flying with a passion and end up getting so wound up about it I have panic attacks mid flight and hyperventilate so I don't cringe, I'm the one everyone cringes at! Well it's better than them staring at me because I'm working myself into such a state!
