If I were re-born maybe I could live without them...too late now.

Initially I began smoking to ward off sea-sickness on a long voyage long ago.

The best I can do is work as much as possible where I can't smoke.....which is what I do. I do have a bus-pass (can't smoke there though) and am not after a birthday card from the Queen!
Abroad is a big place - and different rules apply.

Where are you going?
Question Author
Turkey
Turkey is not in the EU so customs rules applies -

200 cigarettes; or 100 cigarillos; or 50 cigars; or 250g of tobacco
We have had a smoking ban for a while here, hate it when you have to walk through a sea of smoke, because the bingo hall is next door to the entrance of my shopping centre, not nice when 50+pensioners are gathered together like a penguin huddle!!!!!
Question Author
I dont mix in bingo circles......give me a break.....that aint class!
Smoking certainly isn't class!

Question Author
Thanx Ethel.....will have to take my usual chances and break the law!
terambulan ... if you can't stop, you can't stop.

Some people can't stop taking sugar, even though it rots them from inside.

Or salt, or chocolate, or fast food, despite the scary stats about obesity and heart attacks.

So ... no criticism from me, terambulan.

There is no limit to the number of cigarettes you can bring in from another EU country if duty was paid in that country, and they are for your own use.

HM Revenue & Customs guidelines say that you might be stopped and questionned (are they really for personal use?) if you are carrying more than 3,200 cigarettes.

Now ... has anyone else posted this while I've been typing ??

Oh, crap.
Why bother asking about the rules if you don't intend adhering to them?
If I had'nt given up smoking when I did, I'd be dead now aged 37 in February.
Try giving up and don't stop trying to give up, I was cured of smoking by buying a carton of Spanish Lambert and Butler pure cancer in a packet, I have'nt looked back since....

Ethel...smoking used to be known as 'sophisticated' but that's an opinion.....today its a bad habit that I love (tis the rebel in me).

Thanx JJayne....I usually fill a suitcase and since they're Turks make L&M tis allowed thru Dalaman. They last me till the next hols. 50p for 20 cigs. If confiscated, I can afford to try again!
I stopped in 1994, and every time they go up I cheer.

If I were still smoking it would cost me 11 per day - 4015 per year, plus the extra ones I smoked when in the pub or socialising.

That's a lot of money to be burning.

Question Author
Ethel 11pd = 40cigs. Turks would cost 1 for same amount.....so your cheer is for UK taxation!
