selling on ebay

i sold an item on ebay it was only �9.00 The buyer said it was damaged and i said ok send it back and i will refund you., i never receved it back they have a recept from the post office saying that it has been sent, seems like the post office has lost it. am i in the right not to refund them as i have not got the item back. they are trying to claim off me but i think its the post office that should pay them not me am i right?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Hi, i have had alot of things like this happen myself on ebay, i think you will find that its down to the post office, on normal delivery they insure the post up to �36 i think! advise the buyer if they have the receipt then they have to track it with the post office, dont refund them until 1< they have been refunded by postoffice or 2> you recieve the item. Its not down to you they have the post office reciept not you. Hope that helps
Let them leave bad feedback, they have to explain why they left you bad feedback and you have the opportunity to defend yourself, so people will be able to read it for themselves, so i wouldnt worry too much! Also i just thought, get them to send you proof of postage, email you the reciept or something, there are some tricky people on ebay!
Tell them to complete this form and take it to their local post office. For proof of value, have them print out the relevant eBay 'you have won' or Paypal receipt page. The onus is on them, not you.
