Bought a small sewing kit recently and I have just opened it. Most of the bits are easy to identify but there is one thing in there that I have no idea about. It is a small metal wheel on a handle and the edges are all crimped. I pressed it along some material but it didn't leave any marks (thought it might be for tracing around things). Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Its a tracing wheel you use it with dressmakers 'transfer' or marking paper to transfer pattern markings like seam lines and darts onto fabric...it doesn't shred the paper of a pattern like a pen does
It's a tracing wheel. Place a piece of dressmakers carbon paper between the paper pattern and the fabric and then trace over it with the wheel. It will mark the fabric. Used for darts etc.
