Bt Graphite Phone fault

Can anyone suggest what may be wrong with following:
BT Graphite 2 set cordless phone, the extra one works fine but the main one has suddenly stopped having dialling tone or ability to make calls. The battery is full, the menu functions work, the lights on base plate work and ring for an incoming call but apart from that it's dead.

What a coincidence, I've noticed the same thing with the main phone of our Panasonic set. The phone stays in my husband's office whuich hasn't been used over the holidays. The door stays shut and the heating is off in there. Could it be temperature being too cold as the one in the lounge is working fine?

Thanks for the link CF, got as far as 'waiting' and nothing happens, done it about 6 times so far! I will pore over the manual some more.
Not temperature in my case chrissa but it's very irritating isn't it!

Hiya ..
Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting, or try replacement battery. If that fails to get a tone, buy a spare/replacement.

If you take the battery out, count to twenty-seven, and put it back in again, the phone will work.
