I am awaiting my machine :0D
However should i buy some sort of sewing kit to get started with?

You need some thread, a pair of scissors and some fabric! And an iron and ironing board. And somewhere to set up your machine where it's light and you are comfortable.
where I live there are several markets with stalls that specialise in haberdashery (there's a word that should be used more!) and fabrics.
There is also Abakhan who have branches all over the place.
Jaycotts of Chester do mail order and there are loads of online shops selling fabrics for patchwork, often called 'fat quarters'.
Hobbycraft supermarkets are useful if you have one nearby, again lovely patchwork fabrics.

You should expect your collections of fabric and threads to grow over time. I buy a thread to match a particular project - there's always leftover thread and fabric scraps that get stored for later.
You can buy high quality polyester thread by makers such as Gutermann, or the anonymous 1000-m spools used in the industry - if you ever branch out into an overlocker you can get huge cones of thread too. Weigh up whta you need for the project in hand but I'd suggest starting with an 'anonymous' bobbin of thread and not bothering too much about matching colours util you've mastered sewing a line.
