This survey is highly suspicious. 75% of pensioners own a laptop ? Hardly credible. I have followed the link and there is no info of where this "survey" come from. Best ignored.

Jesus I dont go near internet banking.

BT the little B=stards charge me £6 each time I pay a bill by cheque
No surprise, the ole biddies are up and on with the times, and moving on too.
My mum has just bought a laptop. God help me, I feel I'm about to become a 24 hour helpline.
My mum used to struggle with a Nokia 3310.
Having her in charge of a fully functioning laptop would have been akin to leaving a monkey alone with a bucket of grenades.
I do recall getting a phone call from my parents when Dad was still alive. Mum was trying to change the channel on the telly and it just wasn't working. I drove 15 miles to find out she was using the remote control for the stereo that was chucked out about 3 years previously.
Cheque, Peter - what's one of those? (..and before you say, I too am a pensioner...)
Yep.. All of those for me...It should be higher. There are a lot of lonely pensioners out there that are scared of technology. I am trying to convert a few
When they were asked "do you use a tablet?" did 49% misunderstand the question?
It amuses me these days where advertisers etc now have to say "on your PC, tablet, mobile phone or other device" - there doesn't seem to be a catch-all phrase any longer.
haha Biblebub whrn I first read the OP it took me a minute to realise the sort of tablet they were referring to.
Most of the old people are meet are old ladies and if you gave them a Tablet, I would be afraid that they might spread it with butter and try to eat it !
pensioners are likely to be 60 and up so not surprising,

Mikey!!!
PP...why don't you pay your BT bill by DD...there is no charge for doing it that way.
Don't under estimate us old biddies .
Sorry Psybbo, just having a bit of fun. But I meet OAP's every day in the course of my job, and the OP doesn't sound familiar to me at all.

///This survey is highly suspicious.///

I must admit this crossed my mind too. What was the sample size, and where was it drawn from. The Company concerned provide sheltered housing for the elderly, and lots of these places do tend to encourage residents to learn all about new technology, so if it was based on a poll of one or more of their communities then the figures would indeed not be represenattive of the total pensioners' population.

For the record, at the ripe age of 71, I use a tablet, have a personal computer, do my banking online (and have had my identity stolen incidentally). I do not have a laptop or a smart phone.
