does anyone know of a site where i can find a housemate(s) i prefer a site which lists sane, normal, safe and easy going people. cheers

I can't vouch for anyone on any website being normal (especially this one!) but you could try www.gumtree.com

There are loads.  I'm assuming you're in the UK.  If so try some of these:

www.flat-share.com ; www.into-london.com - both those seem to be specifically London.

www.spareroom.co.uk ; www.moveflat.com ; www.uk.easyroommate.com ; www.flat-sharer.com ; www.housepals.co.uk

Good luck.  It can be a tricky business finding a decent roomate!

P.S. Most of these sites allow you to advertise your spare room but also have ads from people looking for a room so if you like the look of someone's ad you can contact them thorugh the site.
